The Green Brook Lions Club Announces Scholarships to Graduating High School Students

A minimum of $4,000 of scholarships are available to residents of Green Brook, New Jersey. GREEN BROOK, NJ, January 5, 2010 – The Green Brook Lions Club today announced the award of a minimum of $4,000 of scholarships to assist Green Brook students, graduating from High School, with college costs. Three scholarships are available; the David T. McGarry Scholarship, the Green Brook Lions Club Scholarship, and the Prichard-Murphy Memorial Scholarship.
The David T. McGarry Scholarship applicant must be a Green Brook resident, must be a 2010 High School graduate, must be pursuing a college degree in business, and must show good math skills, exemplified by good grades and advanced classes. A minimum of $2,000 will be awarded for this scholarship.
The Green Brook Lions Club Scholarship is available to a graduating senior who is a resident of Green Brook, demonstrates a reasonably high level of academic achievement, and is of good character. The student must continue their formal education. This education can be in a two- or four- year college or a vocational program. The main consideration will be the applicant’s involvement in working with the handicapped, the infirm, or less fortunate, and community service. A minimum of $1,500 will be awarded for this scholarship.
The Prichard-Murphy Memorial Scholarship available to a graduating senior who is a resident of Green Brook, demonstrates a reasonably high level of academic achievement, and is of good character. The student must continue their formal education. This education can be in a two- or four- year college or a vocational program. The main requirement is that the candidate will be continuing their education in the field of education or the fine arts. A minimum of $500 will be awarded for this scholarship.

Winners will be chosen by a selection committee and notified by mid-June 2010 if their application was selected.
